RAF Welcomes Phoenix Industries as New Member

Phoenix Industries, an environmental solutions company, is a worldwide leader for innovations in waste tire recycling processes and new technologies for asphalt rubber paving. The company’s focus is on the design, fabrication, delivery and installation of asphalt rubber blending units and asphalt pelleting plants.

Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, Phoenix Industries has been manufacturing asphalt rubber blending units since 2007. They have delivered units to many countries, including Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.

The company’s blending units are capable of manufacturing ASTM D6114 asphalt-rubber binder materials (~15-25% rubber content) at rates of 10 to 50 tons of binder per hour and can also be used to manufacture performance graded binders at the plant to meet any Superpave design requirements by using a finer grind recycled tire rubber (0.6 mm, 30 mesh and smaller).

Although the blending equipment is cost effective and easy to use when modified binders are in high demand, Phoenix Industries has developed a pelletized bitumen technology that provides an easy solution for delivering modified binders, or even regular bitumen, to places where liquid bitumen production and storage is not cost effective, feasible or in sufficient demand.

The company has a broad line of intellectual property including: PelletPAVE™, PelletPATCH™ and the PelletRAP™ line of pelletized materials. Pellets can be used in hot applied pothole patching material and for grade bumping in PG asphalt paving projects to complete replacement of a liquid binder.

Phoenix Industries is led by Chief Operating Officer Kelly Sockwell, and Dr. Serji Amirkhanian is the company’s director of research & development.
