OPPORTUNITY: Texas Asphalt Pavement Association Seeking Director of Technical Services

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association is actively seeking applicants for the position of director of technical services

TXAPA is a full-service trade association for the asphalt pavement industry in Texas that was founded in 1944 and formally registered in 1962. For more than 50 years, TXAPA has been dedicated to quality with a commitment to work in the partnering spirit to promote, enhance and grow the asphalt paving industry in Texas.

The director of technical services is a full-time TXAPA position that will work in a team environment with other members of the TXAPA staff under the direction of the TXAPA Officers and board of directors. The position requires an individual with a strong working knowledge of the practical engineering principles relevant to the asphalt pavement industry. The ideal candidate will possess good communication and presentation skills, organizational skills and computer skills to complete assigned tasks. The primary duties and activities of the TXAPA director of technical services position are outlined below:

  • Provide technical assistance to TXAPA Members and Partners in Quality

    Specific tasks for the position will include the development and review of specifications and test procedures, communication and education on industry innovations and changes and troubleshooting on challenging projects. Regular assignments for the position will involve mix designs, mix types, plant operations, lay down operations and the test procedures and specifications that apply to those processes.

  • Coordinate TXAPA Technical Activities

    The ideal candidate will be able to coordinate the technical activities of the association through our committee structure and Partners in Quality program that includes internal and external customers. Activities will include technical membership services, producing seminars/webinars and participating in the communication of technical information through several mediums developed by TXAPA for the asphalt pavement industry.

  • Team Activities and Membership Services with Other Staff Members

    The position will also require working with other TXAPA staff members to successfully conduct annual meetings, strategic planning sessions, monthly board meetings and membership services.

TXAPA is offering an attractive compensation and benefits package for the position, including a company vehicle, retirement program, health insurance and paid vacation. Salary for the position will be commensurate with experience and qualified skills.
