This year in Wisconsin, the equivalent of six-million passenger tires will be discarded as scrap. Given the state government’s environmental policies – which include a ban on scrap rubber in landfills – some may view these tires as a headache or a problem that must be shipped out of the state at considerable cost. Others see all this scrap rubber as an opportunity, and they include some WAPA members and an increasing number of road agencies.
